Sunday 10 October is World Mental Health Day and I’d like to share my personal thoughts and feelings around mental health.
Winter is upon us, which means a drop in temperatures, shorter days, less sunlight and darker nights. We may sleep for longer, feel sluggish and find the simplest tasks difficult to complete.
We’re also dealing with the continued impact of COVID-19 and the extended lockdown restrictions may have caused additional strain on our mental health. This combined with the change of season can affect our mental health, so it’s important that we make it a priority.
Staff are our greatest asset, when we feel valued, supported, developed and able to bring our whole selves to work, that is when we thrive not only as people, but as an organisation.
It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and I’d like to highlight some of the work that DIO is doing to support our staff who are continuing to keep Defence working.
